Rishikesh is a land of diversity and it serves justice to its title of being the Yoga Capital of India. It has a lot of variety in every aspect. Be it adventure sports , beaches, hostels , Ashrams or the places to explore and eat at. When it comes to food , Rishikesh is no less than a heaven for food lovers. You name it and they have it. All the way from Street food to Cafes with such amazing views of the Ganga River, you’re sure to have fun while exploring the food there.
Here, I’ve listed a few of the places which I found to be the best ones to explore food at while in Rishikesh.
1. Little Buddha Cafe, Lakshman Jhula
With a view of the combination of Ganga river and the sunset , and also the amazing food served there, you’re surely going to love this one. They have a range of cuisines, all the way from pancakes, to platters, yummy pizzas, momos, and a variety of milkshakes and mocktails. Vegan options are also available.
While we visited the cafe, we tried the Margherita Pizza and Arrabiata pasta. So delicious that it made us want to come back for more.
2. Tip Top Cafe, Parmarth Niketan
This small cafe is hidden in the streets of Parmarth Niketan. The view from this cafe will amaze you , with Ram Jhula on one side and the Sunset and Parmarth Niketan on the other .
My favourite dish here was the Tofu stir Fry with vegetables.I’ve always been a fan of Stir Fry Veggies and wasn’t disappointed with this one. The experience of enjoying the food, while also enjoying the Ganga River flowing by is nothing short of extraordinary and blissful.
3. Gayatri Cafe, Sheesham Jhadi
Wondering where to go for some delicious breakfast, then this place is for you. A simple cafe, located in the Gully’s of Rishikesh, provides a variety of sandwiches , milkshakes, vegan food, diet food and a lot more. This cafe also doubles up as a General store.
One of the best things to try here is the Bun Maska. We were never satisfied with just one.
Also, coconut milk coffee and Peanut Butter Sandwich are must-haves when at Gayatri. I’m sure one visit won’t be enough since there are so many different things to try and once you’ve had their Bun Maska, you’ll want to come back and have it again and again. Our breakfast and late night hunger pangs were sorted, all thanks to Gayatri Cafe.
4. Chotiwala, Near Ram Jhula
If you’re looking for some Desi Food then Chotiwala is the place. It is one of the oldest and popular restaurants in Rishikesh. The North Indian cuisine here should be tried when you’re there. The mouth watering Aloo Parathas And Chole Bhature, are some of the food items that we had there. Very reasonable and the quality and quantity was satisfactory.
5. Pure Soul Cafe, Tapovan
One of the best places in Rishikesh if you’re looking to try something different. They’re very well known for their breakfast options and Smoothies. The variety of Smoothies and juices that they have, suitable for each and every need of a person, was quiet remarkable. I wanted to try one of their smoothie bowls. Although, it didn’t look like the smoothie bowl that I expected it to be , but it was yummy and filling enough.
We also ordered the cheese corn grilled sandwich and it was very cheesy and quite delicious. The outdoor seating has a beautiful view of the green lush mountains in the background and a swimming pool right beside the seating area.
Apart from the cafes,
The local Pani puri, Aloo Chat, Naan Kathai ( Desi cookie ), were my companions throughout the trip. These are the must haves local delicacies.
